Happily Ever After - Wedding At The B Farm

We dreamed big dreams for making the farm the perfect wedding spot and worked hard to make it come true.

The Ceremony Spot

On the day of the wedding the weather was perfect and the Spot dressed up

The flowers all set in vases ready to be taken out to the tables - Megan did a great job making them!

Signs and balloons put out along the roads and also placed along the pathway to the Ceremony Spot and tent

The "Burma Shave" style sign was put out down the road right before the turn to our road...I don't have a picture of that unfortunately

Games were set out, the fire pit made ready, and lights strung up to light up the yard.

It all came together with lots of help from friends and family - we couldn't have done it without them.

The ceremony was beautiful and special.

We gained a new son and we adore him.

Our hearts are full. It was a beautiful day filled with special memories.

And me? I didn't cry...well, maybe teared up a tiny bit. But I was prepared - thanks to my sister Christine for the beautiful hankie she made me.

The wedding is just a month away, y'all! And we are up to our eyeballs in projects:

And so many other bits and pieces of planning:

We strung up lights outside.

We talked about where the directional arrows and signs needed to go.

I checked the length of the string to see if I had enough to string along the path. There is.

We stood on the hill Monday with the Bluetooth speaker and played music to see if it would work. It did.

We had Bruce drive the truck to the drop off place to see if the noise of the truck drowned out the music. It didn't.

I stood next to Megan talking about the big day and I started crying. Drat it. My mom was a crier. It always embarrassed me. I swore I wouldn't be one. And yet here I was, tears running down my face. Mom, your legacy lives on. 😂

As some of you know, we're in the middle of wedding planning, It's been pretty fun watching my daughter and her fiancé go through the process.

 Choosing a wedding venue is usually one of the first things you do. Megan and Dylan wanted an outdoor wedding and they chose our farm. That was easy! But then they needed to walk over the property and pick out a spot for the ceremony and the reception.

They had to decide if they wanted an open air reception or have a tent, the time of year to have it, how many people they were inviting, etc.

You get the picture. Lots of questions to think about - they help to narrow it all down to what exactly you want.

I found some beautiful outdoor areas that would work if they weren't getting married at the farm. For Central Texas, Chapel Dulcinea is stunning - it sits on the edge of a cliff with spectacular views;

then for East Texas (where the farm is),  Castle on the Lake  just looks really cool with a castle and stunning views.

 Chef Simon will be providing the food for the reception and we've reserved the cabins for the wedding party.

And in case of bad weather and we need to move the wedding inside, there's a ballroom. It's always good to have a backup plan when planning an outdoor wedding - removes some of the stress and worry about the weather!

Working On The Wedding Spot

Wow, where did last week go? I was busy doing what I love best - decorating, crafting, painting, and gardening! No wonder I didn't have time to send out any posts. Fortunately, that means I have lots to share!

We (me, Bruce, Megan and Dylan) went up to the farm the first weekend in March so we could work on the wedding spot. Although Saturday was rainy, we were able to get the food planned out for the reception and ended the day with delicious smoked ribs Bruce made. Finally on Sunday, we were able to get out and start cleaning up.

 Clean up began with trimming up the bushes under the trees:

Plus we put out grass seed to grow. It's really starting to shape up! The dogs were happy getting to run around for a couple of hours as well.

 Overall, it was a very productive weekend!
