Happily Ever After - Wedding At The B Farm

We dreamed big dreams for making the farm the perfect wedding spot and worked hard to make it come true.
The Ceremony Spot
On the day of the wedding the weather was perfect and the Spot dressed up

pathway to the Spot marked with streamers and with a table set up for the wildflower seeds

The tent pitched and tables set up all ready for the reception

The flowers all set in vases ready to be taken out to the tables - Megan did a great job making them!

Signs and balloons put out along the roads and also placed along the pathway to the Ceremony Spot and tent
The "Burma Shave" style sign was put out down the road right before the turn to our road...I don't have a picture of that unfortunately

The heart marks the "Happily Ever After Begins Here" sign

The chalkboard bistro sign - see what I used to make it in this post.

Games were set out, the fire pit made ready, and lights strung up to light up the yard.

It all came together with lots of help from friends and family - we couldn't have done it without them.

The ceremony was beautiful and special.

Putting the ring on her finger

They said "I do" and walked down the aisle to a rain of wildflower seeds

Pictures were taken
Megan's grandmother and great aunt

And everyone had a wonderful evening filled with love, laughter, and good food.

They had everyone take a photo for the guest book

Lots of mini desserts - yummy!

Lots of friends and family
We gained a new son and we adore him.
Our hearts are full. It was a beautiful day filled with special memories.

Wishing them the best for their "Happily Ever After".
The new Mr. and Mrs.

And me? I didn't cry...well, maybe teared up a tiny bit. But I was prepared - thanks to my sister Christine for the beautiful hankie she made me.
A little wrinkled from being squished in my hand 😊

PS
Thank you to everyone who shared their pictures. (I chose not to carry around a camera. I wanted to soak in every minute.)

Repurposing Bits and Pieces for Wedding Signs

Well, we are now less than three weeks from the wedding. Hard to believe, right? I feel like I have so much to share but today I will stick to a couple. My friends gave Megan a shower - they did a great job decorating and all.

She got lots of nice gifts - she was excited to get nice stuff to replace all the old college housewares. :)

A friend had an old crib that no longer worked so she asked me if I wanted it. Of course, I said yes! I instantly knew what I'd do with the pieces.

But first, I needed to paint the arrow signs and entry sign onto old fence pickets. I sanded the wood just enough to get a smooth enough surface for lettering, then painted the arrow pickets white.

Next, I laid out a stencil and traced my words. Then I started painting.

C-U-T-E!!!

Just need to outline the letters in black!

All the rails got a good coat of chalk paint.

When everything was dry, I assembled the signs, attaching the pickets onto the rails. This will make placing the signs so much easier!

Ta-da! I really like the way they turned out. I still need an arrow on the "Happily Ever After Begins Here" sign but I will attach that when I put the sign in place. (I'm not sure exactly where I'll place it and the arrow needs to point the right way. 😀)

And the head and foot boards? They became an easel sign - painted ASCP old white along the edges and black chalkboard paint in the center.

Attached at top with wire and chain on the sides. Not sure yet if we will write the menu on it or some other message but love how it turned out!

We still have little projects to do but all the major ones are done. We are ready to party!

Sharing My Art

One thing I've been able to do this week while I'm giving my back time to heal is paint! No, not walls (although I have a few that need it!), but artwork.
In the studio

I'm not good at sharing my art. I don't know why...I guess it feels like I'm bragging or something. But seriously, I love to create beautiful, whimsical, or thought-provoking art.

Occasionally, I do a "paint and sip" type paint party too. (Those are great fun. I want to give people a fun experience with art. So many are intimidated and I want them to know they can create!).

I love doing pet portraits from colorful ones to realistic.
"Aubergine, the Queen"
"Buddy" in color

I'm often inspired by my travels.
"Memories of New England"

"Bicycle in an English Garden"

I do paint people but prefer them doing something, not sitting for a photo portrait although I do paint traditional portraits. Children are fun to paint!
"Budding Artist"

"Megan - 2 1/2 years old"

"Snow Angel"

Fantasy - my favorite. I get to use my imagination. :o)
"Midnight's Journey"

Thought-provoking - this one is titled "The Battle For Her Dreams". Do you feel like you've had to fight to hold onto your dreams? How many have you lost or held onto?

Objects with character (old, rusty, you get the idea).
Old wagon wheel

Food and Flowers.
Yummy Dessert - palette knife technique

Poppies

Greeting cards and signs too.
Christmas card design

coffee sign on wood panel

RV sign from old fence pickets

I sell mostly word of mouth but I'm looking for another avenue this year.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing some of my artwork. If you'd like to see more, you can click on My Artwork on the side bar or go to www.ceciliabramhall.com.

Happy creating!

Cecilia

Springtime Projects 3: Have A Seat!

It might still be Spring, but here in Texas, things are starting to heat up and feel like Summer. I knew I needed to get the last of my Spri...
