X Marks The Spot

There's a very special spot at the farm.

It's where I'd build a house if we were to do so:

It's the spot where the view is breathtaking:
Springtime view from top of hill with Dogwood and yellow flowers in bloom
Fall view from beyond the hill looking back

It's down one hill and up another:
Looking back toward the pond and beyond
It's just past the sometimes pond:

Where the branches from the two large trees intertwine:

And now...

Now it's where two very special and dear to my heart people will exchange wedding vows next year.

It's my favorite spot and they picked it.
The backside of the hill

Megan and Dylan, I'm glad you chose this spot. Here's to making it even more beautiful than it already is.

  1. Congratulations! What a gorgeous spot for a wedding. There are certain spots that just call to our heart, aren't there? Mine was always on top of the hill by the old chapel -our field on the farm where I grew up.

How wonderful to think your special spot will be even more special now. xo Diana

  2. It is beautiful! I would love a house there too, it will be lovely for a wedding!!

  3. Love the spot you have picked. Now I see why you love "the B farm" so much.
Will make for a beautiful wedding.

  4. Congratulations! That spot is perfection! I can't wait to see some photos of the big day. I know you are excited...:) Outdoor weddings are my favorite! Have a great week.

    Hugs, Vicky

  5. I love it! For all reasons, for all seasons!
Especially, for the love and life that will begin here!
    Love forever, Aunt Aundi

    1. We are so excited they want to get married there! We are looking forward to meeting all of Dylan's family!

  6. Beautiful spot - I bet you're excited to help them get started on the planning..

    1. Oh yes! We are! It will be fun transforming it too. It needs grooming to get rid of underbrush, stickers, and briers. When the wedding is over, I want to stick a bench out there. It is the perfect daydream spot!

  7. Beautiful. Can't wait to see your pictures of the wedding. We were in your neck of the woods last week going back and forth to Mississippi. It's so pretty in East Texas, and Louisiana.

  8. Oh Cecilia! How lovely! It's going to be beautiful for sure, and I can only imagine how excited you must be.

Your daughter looks exactly like you!!

  9. I can see why you would want to build a house there, absolutely the most beautiful views in every direction, and those trees that intertwine, oh my! And what a perfect place for two to become one, under the entwined trees, so beautiful and special. Definitely a place to go and reflect and soak up the quiet beauty of the Lord's creation around you. Happy to meet you today :)

  10. How beautiful! Such a wonderful spot for a wedding! Congratulations!

  11. How sweet! That is one beautiful spot and I know it will be the most special place on earth for that wedding. ♥

  12. Aww, this sweet post brought tears to my eyes! What a special place to be married--the history and the memories to come!

  13. That is a beautiful favorite spot :) Truly beautiful.

Farm Laundry Room Wall

This weekend I got the laundry room painted - walls, trim, and shelves. Yay!! It looks fresh and bright.

And because I got all the painting done, I was able to get the accent wall done ( thanks to my husband for his help!). When I began planning, I wanted to do something to the walls that would give it some interest. I thought of beadboard or a rough plaster texture but I wanted a more rustic look. Rough wood planks (as in old fence pickets) or what I really, really wanted was rusty tin. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough old fence pickets or somewhere to get rusty tin for either option.

I had just about decided to go with beadboard when I just happened to mention the rusty tin idea to one of my sisters. She said she knew where she could get some, so how much did I need? Yes! I quickly measured, told her, and in a few weeks had some tin panels. Perfect...only they weren't rusty. She told me the rusty ones were too far gone so she decided to bring me these. Ok, I can rust them…

Color Me Happy - Adding Color Back To The House

I've enjoyed our new colorful living room so much.
The touches of red, green and blue really bring the room to life.

It made me realize that trying to do neutral wasn't me even though I love the look in other people's homes. Therefore, I have embarked on a mission to add color back into my house.

I already had the red pillows and red plaid placemats for the dining area. I also made the red plaid curtain this past year.  My wall is full of colorful pictures and art.

I found the flowers on clearance at JoAnn's. Yay for clearance! It will be fun to have different colorful looks for the seasons.

For the kitchen, I decided to add colorful plates and what's more perfect than Fiestaware?  I have very fond memories of my mom's turquoise set especially the tea pitcher and salt & pepper shakers.

I knew there was a vendor at the Canton First Monday Trade Days that sold Fiestaware. I had bought a red pitcher a couple of years back. So in July, dinner plates came home…

Thanksgiving sign

I can't stand it...I was going to post this next week but I'm dying to show it off! I know, I know, now I will have to come up with a new post for next week. That's ok. I'm having fun with this and so enjoy it. You make it so much more so! So thanks for reading and leaving comments. I am thankful for you! Anyway, here's my farm mantel post:

My mantel needed help. Everything I placed there got lost against the brick. Painting it isn't an option - that was voted down very emphatically! However, I painted the trim around the fireplace to match the surrounding walls and ah, that looks better - blends instead of sticking out like a sore thumb.

Also, it doesn't quite line up with the fireplace. Or the fireplace isn't centered on the wall. Who designed this anyway?! I can't tell you how many quirky things we've found in this house. I think it's  called character! ha.

To help it look better, I decided it needed a wooden sign. I picked a favorite sc…
