Flower Making, Other Stuff and A Winner!

We had a flower making party yesterday. I only snapped a few pictures with my phone because, you know, I was supposed to be working on flowers. Lol!

Megan is in the purple shirt...I seem to have caught her looking away each time. :)
We made a pretty good dent. A big thank you to all who helped!

Last week was kind of crazy...I finally went to see about my shoulder a couple of weeks ago and not only did I get a cortisone shot but he sent me to physical therapy so Monday and Friday I did that, Tuesday and Wednesday was spent in San Antonio for my aunt's funeral, and Thursday was my son's 30th birthday. On top of that, I've been finishing up a painting commission.
Happy Birthday, Jay!

Bruce has also started painting the city house exterior. Seeing the fresh paint really made me realize how much we've needed to tackle this. (Can you say faded?) It looks great and I'm loving the neutral color scheme. I also realized I've had the perfect color all along for the kitchen - the living room color works perfectly in there. I have almost a whole gallon so I shouldn't have to buy any. Not sure when I will tackle that - after the wedding probably.

We are now less than two months from the wedding. I have a few things I still need to make -arrow signs, bean bags for the corn hole game- I know the last couple of weeks will be intense.

We also got the wildflower seed bags filled during the flower making party - it's what people will be tossing at them as they walk down the aisle as man and wife! 😊

Everything is coming together!

Now for the giveaway of KariAnne's book "So Close To Amazing" -  everyone who commented on the blog or on my fb page was assigned a number then I had Bruce pull a number out of the bowl. The winner is...drumroll please...Denise!

Congratulations! I've contacted you and you have until Thursday to respond. I know you will love KariAnne as much as I do.

Have a wonderful week, my friends.

Floor Reveal

The floors at the city house make one project down and how many to go? I don't know; I've lost count. 😬 But that's ok, we're plugging along, getting them done. I've been cutting out Megan's paper flowers so she can concentrate on putting them together. I'm so proud of her and Dylan for working hard to keep the wedding at a reasonable cost! They've been awesome!

Almost have all the red ones cut out, then it will be on to the teal ones. White and yellow are done! (I think there is another white one and a purple one to do still.)

Anyway, I left you with the new floor install, promising to come back and share the final reveal. Here's the photo I shared of the floors going in:

And here's an after - Bruce jumped in and helped paint the molding so I was able to put the living and dining rooms back together:

It was nice having the spaces empty and being able to reset everything. I rather enjoyed it being pared down so I decided to keep my spaces less cluttered looking.

One area I purged was the bookshelves - and restyled with a summer look.

(We try to collect sand from each beach we visit; putting it in small glass vials that we then label with the beach location. )

But I got that sand home and put it in a vial to add to the rest! I love how different they all are.

I moved a lamp from my bedroom to the small table next to the shelves. I love the soft glow it gives off. More seashells and a lighthouse decorate it.

My big flower arrangement that used to sit on top of the tv cabinet got moved to the buffet for now. Plus I put the wine glasses from our anniversary trip there as well.

I hung several pieces of my artwork on the walls also. A small rug in front of the French doors (I found it rolled up in the entryway closet...totally forgot I had it) finishes off the dining room.

In the living room, my dad's old toy chest is used as a coffee table.  This is one surface I'm constantly battling to keep clean.

A metal basket is handy to corral all the remotes, some playing cards and coasters.

A small demilune table from Bombay Co. (remember them?) got moved from the master bedroom hallway to beside the fireplace. Another lamp adds a soft glow to this area as well.

The cabinet above it was made by my dad and holds an assortment of treasures...I'm hoping to find a good spot at the farm for this.

I've tried to keep surfaces uncluttered as I'm tired of all the stuff. With the new floors, everything looks just wonderful.

So that's my new floors. I want to thank everyone for their kind comments on my last post. I appreciate your kindness more than I can say. Y'all are the best!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have more flowers to go cut out.

Quick Projects Around the Farm

We headed to the farm on Thursday to check on the bees and water plants.

I am happy to report the bees are doing well...it looks like new bees have hatched and all is going as it should.  And the plants are thriving and blooming (yay).

I ended up not having to water - a storm blew in Thursday evening and we got an inch of rain. Afterwards the weather was just gorgeous with perfect temperatures! And check out the sunset - isn't it so pretty with the sun gilding the edges of the clouds?

The next morning dawned sunny and cool The mowing got done,

And I planted plants in the new front bed in front of the guest room. Looking forward to those growing and softening the edges of the rain drain.

I placed the little tractor in the flowerbed - when the plants grow up around it, it will look so adorable among them!

I also got a couple of smaller projects done.

One of them was redoing the small metal table we use out on the back patio. I'd painted it yellow a couple of years ago. Here's what it looked like shortly after I painted it:
But now the paint was starting to peel and I was rather tired of the bright yellow. It didn't go with anything I had.

This time I painted it red. Love the way it turned out! hm, I forgot to take a picture of it.

I put the tiered cart with dog art in place of the school desk on the back porch (it looks great there). Oops, I forgot to take a picture of it in it's new spot. Blogging fail again!

The next project I took plenty of pictures of - The telephone junction box stuck out like a sore thumb along the garage wall. (I guess the electric meter isn't all that pretty either but it doesn't have a pole going down into the flowerbed). What can I use to hide it?

Let's see...I have several old fence pickets; I have a new Ryobi circular saw; I have Bruce to show me how to use the little circular saw. Sounds like I have everything I need! So with Bruce's guidance, I cut supports and the pickets to size. Then Bruce used his new Kreg pocket jig to put the supports together and I nailed the pickets to them.

An old garden fork head screwed into the pickets hold my cute chalkboard sign I picked up in Canton.

Isn't it wonderful? I like how it hides the telephone box and gives the flowerbed a focal point.
(I still need to put the supports on so it will stand up straight. )
Plus, I got good practice using my circular saw!
Soon it was time to head back to the city. But that's ok. The kids were taking me out for Mother's Day Saturday night and we were honoring my mother-in-law on Sunday.

I'll see you soon, sweet B Farm!
