Trying To Keep Up

I've been feeling overwhelmed lately and that makes me feel a little guilty. My stresses are not bad, they  are truly good things.

I'm not watching anyone struggle with a horrible illness or anything bad. Life is just going full steam ahead and I'm running as hard as I can to keep up.

The farm is truly a place I can catch my breath even though there is much going on there. There is something peaceful in the tending of flowerbeds, chopping out sticker burrs, or helping Bruce with the wedding/art studio projects.

I'm trying hard to learn the business end of my art while trying to continue to paint and be creative.

It's been overwhelming for this introvert at the sheer amount of information being thrown my way. It's good but I feel like I'm falling further and further behind. I need time to work through it at a pace that doesn't overwhelm me.

On top of that is all the things our city house needs...taking care of two places has been taxing; one always seems to suffer over the other. But I'm doing my best to refresh spaces, purge, and help Bruce where I can on the bigger things like painting the exterior (colors have been chosen and Bruce is repairing siding, etc).

Of course, the farmhouse has priority right now because of the wedding. It's fun to see it all come together.

Then there's my little blog. At least, I'm not trying to make a living off it. It's my online diary of progress at the farm. Taking pictures, editing them, and trying to come up with interesting topics takes lots of time. Things feel forced and boring right now when I want them to be interesting and amazing.
And quite frankly, all of it is just making me stressed and tired.

I guess I'm telling you all of this to ask you for grace if I post less or fall flat. I'll continue to share but I truly feel God wants me to concentrate on my art and develop that - however that looks. I won't lie - I'd love for my art to be successful and all. But it won't happen if I don't get in there and work at it.

So something needs to give. While this isn't farewell, it is a signing off of some sort. I'll still be around but less than before. I need to concentrate on my daughter and the wedding and put the time in on my artwork. Thank you for letting me be honest and for understanding. This blog wouldn't be enjoyable without all of you.

I do have a couple of posts coming up to tie some loose ends up. Then I'm going to concentrate on those important life events. Hopefully, I'll come back to blogging weekly once the wedding is over and things settle down.

I hope you have a wonderful and blessed weekend.

hugs,
Cecilia

  1. You do have a very full plate and even though it is filled with many blessings, don't every feel guilty for having so much to juggle. Take a big deep breathe and know that you are exactly where you should be and that the important things are taking care of yourself and those you love. Just let go of what is not joyful to you right now and we will still be here when you get rested up!
    Hugs,

  3. I so understand what you are going through, Cecilia! I have backed way off blogging, too. I used to post just about everyday and I just don't.have.the.time.
We will think about you and cheer you on...and pop by once in a while to say Hello! Oh---and we MUST MUST MUST see some wedding photos when the madness ends. lol xo Diana

  4. Cecilia sometimes life takes over and other things are front and center. Juggling is so hard and you have to follow your heart right now. Your daughter's wedding at the farm and your talented heart with your art need attention. Glad you will pop in to say Hello from time to time. We will all still be here. I too have cut way back on blogging with life being so busy for me too. I get it. Good luck with concentrating on the wedding and your art studio and creative ventures.
    xoxo

  5. So understandable. Take a deep breath, enjoy the wedding plans, and let the farm restore you. We will miss you but be here when you return. :)

  6. Life has its stages, and blogging, while it has served you well, may need to take a back seat for a while. There is absolutely no reason to feel guilty! Many of us, myself included, have cut back on blogging. I think we get to a point where we realize our time is best spent doing other things, whether it's temporary or permanent, it's in our best interest not to fight it or feel guilty.

I will miss you and do hope you stop by from time to time, but concentrate on the wedding and your new business for now and if and when you're ready to come back we will all be here.

  7. Hey Cecilia, this is Patty. Sent seeds yesterday. In addition to the two bags of commercial seed I sent a grocery bag full of individual seed packets that I have gotten from others. I will never use them, so you might as well sprinkle them around the fields and see what you get. I only threw in those which sounded as if they could be wildflowers. Hey, don't feel apologetic for needing to live your life. Blogs are those things which are for fun (mostly), in my opinion. When my life started getting stressful and I no longer had the time to READ all those lovely blogs, I had to start unsubscribing. Hated to do it, because I found something beneficial in each one. But something had to go. You do what you need to do, and come back when you can. I, for one, want to see the wedding evolve !

  8. I will miss your posts but completely understand about real life needing to take center stage. This is such a special time in your life and you don't want anything to get in the way of spending time with your daughter and preparing for her wedding day. I'll look forward to the day when you come back to blog world.

  10. Blog breaks are wonderful things! We'll be here whenever you drop in. Enjoy every moment you can of your daughter's wedding preparations and tending to real life for now.

  11. I totally understand why you need a break. Your daughter's wedding and your art career need more of your time right now and for good reason. :) I hardly ever post but I still have my same few loyal friends...like you and I am fine with that. I'm sure you're like me and your blog is a hobby and a journal of sorts and you get to it when you can. We'll all still be here when you have more time to share. For now...enjoy the wedding planning! It will be here before you know it! And...enjoy putting together your art barn...it is looking amazing! Love and hugs!
