Last Week in Review

I had a wonderful, whole blissful week at the farm.

I was able to scratch several things off my to-do list...

Like repainting our bedside tables:

They were white but that wasn't working for me, so they got a coat of Studio Taupe (Behr's). I had a sample can  that I turned into chalk paint (1 TBLS unsanded grout mixed with 1 TBLS of water to 1 cup of paint). Then I waxed them with ASCP clear wax followed by dark wax. Perfect! I'm sorry the picture isn't better. It is hard to get a good picture in this room.

Finishing up my chicken lamp:
the chicken got a coat of Antique White paint then dark wax to antique him
Had this lampshade but I felt like it needed something:

I added some beading to the bottom of the shade. Love it!!

Repainting my art studio stool. It is beyond cute - I will share that and another art room project soon.

Changing out my decor to a late summer one - I pulled out all my sunflower looking florals and got busy.

entry table in progress
Redoing the bedside table for the guest room - that, too, is coming soon.

Then, since Herbie was feeling left out because Buddy had a portrait, I painted his:

    Here they are together:

And a pet portrait for a blog friend. Here's a sneak peek of it:

Lastly, my twin sis and I went to Canton. As always, we had a blast. I'm officially a Canton shopper now as I bought one of the wheeled carts to haul our finds in. Turns out it was a good thing as I got this old typing table to use for the computer,

and this old child's bike for a friend:

They were heavy! Let me tell you, this vendor was a hoot and had us laughing, but he helped us tie the bike to the cart and the table already balanced on top. Of course, we had several smaller items.

Before I knew it, the weekend was here and it was time to head back to the city. I will miss the quiet evenings, green countryside, and wildlife. Until the next time, my lovely farm!

  1. Oh Cecilia! What a fun and busy week you had. I love the chicken lamp...so creative adding the feathered trim to it! Love the portrait of Herbie...so cute. They look adorable side by side. The fall decor looks pretty too. I am so ready for some cooler weather. Have a beautiful Thursday.

    Blessings, Vicky

    1. Oh Vicky, I didn't want to leave! It's so much greener than in Austin. Definitely more rain in East Texas than Central Texas. And so quiet. The boys enjoyed their "Summer Camp" as my husband called it. They ran, chased squirrels, and played hard. It was good for my very active border collies. Thanks for stopping by. Hope your week is going well.

  2. Next time we need a warning... "Cuteness Overload"! The chicken lamp is fantastic and I love the color you painted the bedside tables.

Your fall decor is too adorable...puts me in the mood to pull out my fall treasures and the doggie portraits are so sweet.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your time on the farm and I look forward to your next visit too :)

  3. Isn't it great getting things done that you've been meaning to do for weeks or longer? And to be able to do so in such a lovely place is my idea of heaven!

I did the exact same trim on a lamp once! At least I think it's the same.

I guess I have to relinquish my summer decor and move on, albeit reluctantly. Unlike you, I'm not ready!

    1. Yes, it really is nice to finally get to finish things, Doreen! I'd say you have good taste on trim, lol.
Well officially, summer is not over. To be honest, I'd probably want to hang onto it longer if I knew we had a cold, snowy winter ahead of us. Our Autumn is usually long though with very mild temperatures so I can really enjoy it. Winter is not my favorite season so I totally understand!

    1. Oh you must go to Canton! Although there are some great things ion all the buildings, my favorite part is outside in what we call the junk area. Lots of treasures there waiting to be discovered!
Thanks Cecilia for stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend.
      PS
I've never been to Kerrville...and my grandparents were in Mason...so close. :o)

  5. Hi Cecilia! Oh, you're always a mile ahead of me. I love decorating for fall. Sure wish it was a bit cooler. Since yesterday though we've gotten two inches of rain, thank GOD ! We haven't seen anything in almost two months. Cute puppy paintings ! Great projects to get done. I have loads of tables I want to paint. Just waiting for the weather to cool off and clean up our shop so I have some room. Thanks for sharing !!

    1. I wish we had rain here in Pflugerville. I think Palestine got some (the farm is so much greener than the city). I have so much to do and have been putting it off because of the heat. I'm ready for Fall!
