4th of July Weekend Fun

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend!

Ours was fantastic! Our daughter came home for several days so we got to do some fun family stuff...

an impromptu family party with most of my siblings and a few of the nieces and nephews,

shopping with my girl (her grandmother joined us),

kayaking 5 miles on the Colorado River (an easy day trip from Austin),
Me and the kids....funny how Bruce never gets in any of the family photos

Jay and Me
(I took off my life jacket after these were taken and sat on it - much cooler)!

and building a nightstand Megan came up with (a dad and daughter project):

I love its Midcentury Modern design. She opted to paint it black. It will be perfect in her apartment!

We haven't gotten to do a family vacation with the four of us in some time as college, jobs, and other things didn't line up for that to happen. It was great to have this time together even if all we did were things around home. We ate good food and enjoyed each other's company and isn't that what counts?

Next time I will show my shadow box makeover. Here's a sneak peak of something I added:

I'm off to paint the frame. Have a wonderfully blessed week!

  1. Cecilia, looks like y'all had a really good time on the river. I'd be a little skeered to do that! I'm not a swimmer, so I'm only gonna kayak in my swimming pool! What is that you added to your mom's shadow box ? An angel ? Very sweet. Looking forward to seeing how you paint the case.

    1. Not scary at all and the river wasn't real deep for the most part. Plus you have a life vest. But I also have a sit on kayak instead of one where you sit down inside. Much better if you ask me!
Yep, it's an angel. I'll be showing it soon!
      hugs!

    1. We had a blast! Megan's little project was fun...she's waiting for the paint to cure but I'll try to get a picture of it whenever she gets it all fixed up. I should be showing off my box next week so stay tuned! Hope your week is going well.

  3. We've been on the Colorado River! I had no idea it was that close to you!

I'm so glad you had some time with your family, and especially your daughter Cecilia, and you're right, that's what counts.

    1. Our suburbia house is close to Austin, TX. We went to Webberville where there is a canoe rental place as I'm the only one with a kayak. 5 miles of bliss. So peaceful and fun!
She hasn't been home since Christmas...we enjoyed our time with her!

    1. If you do come to Austin, I hope you let me know. I would love to meet face to face! There is so much to do in and around here; we end up taking it for granted. Guess that's true of a lot of places.
Thank you for dropping by! I'll be sharing the box next week!
      Hugs,
      Cecilia
