New Card Design and Ramblings

I did it!

I finished my new Christmas card design. Here's a sneak peak:

Now it's off to the printers and I wait....I'm hoping I will have them next week.

I've been cleaning and getting ready for Thanksgiving and planning my Wintery, Christmas tablescape. I hope you'll check back next week for that. I'm excited to decorate for Christmas this year. Last year was a bust as I was dealing with my broken knee and unable to do much. As a matter of fact, I will be decorating the farmhouse this weekend. Hurray! I can't wait!!

I'm also trying to finish up the painting of my niece's horse. It is by far the best painting I've ever done. I'm so excited about how it's turning out. Here's how it looked when I started and then about 2 weeks ago:

It always amazes me how much tweaking it takes...just when you think it could be done, you see something else to work on. I do hope to have it done before Christmas.

I'm also working on Christmas ornaments. Cutting them out, painting, embellishing. And then a couple of Christmas signs. Yikes, I'm feeling a little overwhelmed...can I just put everything on hold until I'm all done with these things? :o) I never seem to start early enough and then I'm dashing around trying to get finished. I admire people who can work on their holiday decor way in advance. Somehow, that never works for me.

Speaking of, I'd better go and get the next thing done. Have a wonderful weekend!

hugs,
Cecilia

  2. I've heard horses are one of the most difficult things to paint. My friends father, who is nearing 90, is an artist and has been all his life. He has just written a book and still teaches! I've seen many of his paintings and one of horses running is particulary lovely but he told me it is difficult to execute well. You nailed it Cecilia!

I'm with you about decorating. I never seem to get it done early. Enjoy your time at the farm!

    1. Horses are very challenging but I live trying to capture one. Thank you Doreen. Your friend's father sounds amazing. I hope I am still going strong in my later years!

  3. Cecilia, your painting is amazing ! I envy those who can paint so realistically. Your niece is sure to treasure this always! The Christmas card is the cutest!! Hope you guys didn't get hammered too badly by the storms yesterday. Somehow, we escaped the worst the weathermen had predicted, getting only a smidge of rain and a bit of wind.... but it knocked some pecans down off the tree for us, so that was nice! Have a lovely, blessed Thanksgiving with your family.

    1. Patty,
People who paint realistically always amazed me...I always wanted to but never in a million years did I think I'd be one of them. It still astounds me to see that happening under my paintbrush! My niece is very excited and has promised to let me enter it in art shows.

    2. My dumb iPad won't let me scroll up and then continue with my reply...I meant to tell you while we got plenty of rain, we suffered no damage or horrible storms. It poured though! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
