Maybe Next Christmas?

I had grand plans for this Christmas….Lots of decorating and crafting...

Still in the box

Waiting to be hung

Needs to be finished

This too…wanted to have several done to give as party favors

And I was going to make a forest of fence board trees…(I cut 5 out )...

Paint this Santa that's been cut out for ages ( another project that never got completed and forgotten each year )….

Have every room decorated to the hilt...at both houses! It didn't happen!
The farm bathroom looks pretty good though

It seems like the farmhouse got more done to it than the city house…but then, it's smaller.

Host a party with great food and company ( oh yeah, I did do that one! Enjoyed having my siblings and families at the farm this past weekend ! )

Menu on the chalkboard wall
My niece was the only one to leave a message on the chalkboard. LOL, way to go Leslie!

on a side note: We played the Christmas Exchange Game with Funny Gifts…I ended up with toilet paper embroidered with Christmas designs…May I say "Awesome!"? Oh, and a bar of soap with a design too. My oldest sister is a whiz with her machine. :o)

Embroidered Toilet paper

I basically wanted to have the most decorated, awesome Christmas season ever!

Ok, one out of several isn't bad, right?

I did get a few things decorated…( thanks to my awesome family! )

Lovely angel from a blogging friend!

But not the grand things I had planned. I don't think I set my sights too high…several people decorate multiple trees and deck out their house. Sigh. I think I need to start getting ready for next year now...

Make a list...

Check it twice...or three times...or one hundred.

Problem is, I don't want to work on Christmas stuff after it's over. I want to do it during the Christmas season and this one is almost over.  I'm not sure how much more I'll attempt to do in the week that's left. Maybe it's good enough - I'll just claim I'm scaling back and simplifying. :o) Or blame it on my knee…yeah, I couldn't do stuff because of my knee…

A round cutting board I painted with chalkboard paint

another cutting board turned message board

Merry Christmas to each one of you. I appreciate you all so much for following along and leaving kind comments. I'll see you next year!

Hugs,
Cecilia

  1. Cecilia...you and I are wishing for the same thing. Every year I have all these grand plans of things to make and do and every year, I run out of time and energy before I get it all done. I too only like to do Christmas things during the Christmas season, but I am thinking next year, I really need to get some things planned and done early. I am thinking about making a list of things I want to do, buy, make, etc, and do one thing each month next year that can be done ahead of time. We'll see....I'm sure I will probably not follow through, but it would be so nice next year at this time if I did...:) Have a blessed Christmas...I hope you are surrounded by all your loved ones! Hugs, Vicky

    PS....love the toilet paper!

    1. Thanks, Vicky! I always have great plans...they don't all get done but thus year less than usual because of my knee. I really had planned on being on top of things this year - even got started in late October. Oh well...next year! :)
A very Merry Christmas to you too with the ones you love!
      Hugs,

  3. You're DEFINITELY not the only one Cecilia, but the difference for me is I had no expectations that I would do much this year. This is the second year in a row we don't even have a tree. We moved last Christmas, and I just don't feel like our rental is home...which it isn't. Maybe next year...

I hope your holiday is filled with joy, peace and love and that 2014 is all you wish for!

    1. I understand about the rental not feeling like home. Hopefully next year will be better for you.

I too, hope your Christmas and New Year's are filled with joy, peace, and love with all you hope for! Hugs,
      Cecilia

  4. Cecilia, I couldn't blame my knee this holiday season. I had plans -- AGAIN -- to get all my decorations out and really do it up right! But it just didn't happen. Again. I don't know where the time disappears to. But a bum leg caused by your Bruiser Doggie is a very good excuse. I know it doesn't make you happy though. Next year you'll have the chance again. Count on it ! And stay away from Buddy! :-)

    1. Haha, Patty! Yep this year I have an excuse...trust me, I keep a very close eye on Mr. Buddy and Mr. Herbie. They still run around like maniacs but I tell them to be "EASY!"
Time does have a way of slipping by. But as you said, there's always next year!

  5. Look on the bright side - you won't have to take down tons and tons of decorations - something I am not looking forward to! Merry Christmas!
