Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The B Farm is all ready for Christmas...

The tree is decorated (I apologize for the blurry pictures - I was having a hard time for some reason),

The mantel and entry table too,

and several other touches too,

The baking is almost done...gingerbread cookies, roll away chocolate balls, forgotten cookies, a pumpkin pie, and apricot turnovers. Yum. I'll need to go on a diet soon. :o)
Best of all, our kids will join us here for Christmas. So excited to share our first Christmas at the farm with them. Looking forward to this special day spent with my most favorite people in the world.
So to all of you, I wish you a very Merry and Blessed Christmas and a Joyful New Year. Until next year- Blessings, Cecilia

Thrifted wreathes redone

This past weekend, I finally worked on the wreaths I found at GW. I paid $3 for the evergreen one and $4 for the large grapevine wreath. Can you say bargain? :o)

To begin, I pulled off the tired red bow on the evergreen wreath. Then I sprayed fake snow on the branches, let that dry, then fluffed it up.

Since I wanted it to have a woodland theme for the farmhouse,  I took pinecones - some sprayed silver and others plain -  and glued them around the wreath. I also added in some large acorns.
Next I made "birdhouses" from scrap fence picket pieces.

I put fake snow to each birdhouse.
Added them to the wreath along with a shimmery silver ribbon,
and a silver owl ( hard to get a good picture of him) to add some shine.
And ta-da!  a pretty woodland inspired wreath for the farmhouse!

Then it was time to work on my grapevine wreath. This one was for in my city house so I didn't want it quite as rustic. I started by pulling off all the flowers, saving the magnolia blossoms to reus…

Mantel and Entry Table Decked Out for Christmas

Last week, I showed you the ornaments I made for the B Farm Christmas tree. This week, I'm showcasing the mantel and entry table. Let's start with the mantel:

I wanted to keep the color palette simple - red, green, and silver so I started with a red table runner I had, then added a pine garland. To those I added silver snowflakes, a silver deer, and a chippy, iron star. The urns got updated with seasonal greenery too.

Of course, I had to leave my "B" block.

The snowflakes came in a package of about 20 from Wal-Mart. Very glittery!

Then I decorated my entry table for the season. Again, silvers, green, and red with natural elements and I left the burlap runner.

Love this candle holder - kind of mercury glass looking. The red beads were a garage sale find several years ago. I have lots and lots of them!

The little wreath sits above the table. It got refreshed with red mini pinecones, silver branch picks, and a little silver bird.
